Melba L. McIntyre (Yates) was born at home in Mount Rose Settlement, Texas at 11:00 a.m. on July 1, 1935, to parents Wesley Homer Yates and Myra Meadors Yates. She is preceded in death by her parents, five half brothers: Roman, Mack, Jack, George and Vernon, and five half sisters: Bertha, Gladys, Joyce, Edith and Alice.
In 1950 Melba married Ralph Waldrop and they had two children, Wesley Waldrop and Judy Waldrop. They divorced in 1954. In 1955 she married Arthur T. McIntyre and they had three children, Thomas, Jimmy and Ray McIntyre. Arthur passed away in 2002. She later married Thomas Robins in 2004. Thomas passed away in January of 2016.
She worked in the School Cafeteria for 25 years. During that time, she worked her way up from the lowest to the highest position by completing her high school education and graduating college as one of the 10 most highly educated nutritionists in Texas. She worked as School Custodian Manager for the 11 years immediately following her retirement from Cafeteria Management.
Melba was a faithful member of Peach Creek Baptist Church and the Eastern Star. She crossed over at 4:18 p.m., on November 5, 2017 at Kingwood Medical Center in Kingwood, Texas.
She is survived by her brother, Billy Yates; as well as her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren too numerous to name.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at Pace Stancil Chapel, Cleveland, Texas. Interment will follow at Peebles Cemetery, Livingston, Texas.
