Max McIlvain, age 85 and a resident of Cleveland, Texas, passed away Saturday, January 11, 2014, at his home. He was born April 13, 1928, in Liberty County, Texas. Mr. McIlvain was a Veteran of the United States Army serving his country honorably, 1954 to 1956, during the Korean War. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Hall and Lee McIlvain Sr.; brothers, Lee McIlvain Jr. and Fred McIlvain; and sister, Lois McIlvain. Survivors include his wife, Mary Parker McIlvain; step-son, Donald Cherry; grandchildren, Christopher, Teresa, Brooke, Aaron, and Rebecca Cherry; numerous nieces, nephews and other cherished family members and friends. Visitation will be Friday, January 17, 2014, 5:00-9:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas. Pastor David McCorkle will preside over services to be held Saturday, January 18, 2014, 1:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel, Cleveland, Texas, with interment following at Montague Cemetery. Pallbearers include Donald Cherry, Luther Parker, Wesley Matlock, Billy Bazzoon, John Bazzoon, and Wayne Devereaux.
