Maudie Leah “Winky†Strickland, 77 of Cleveland, Texas, passed away Sunday, June 22, 2014. She was born November 16, 1937, in Zavalla, Texas, to parents, Ernest Jack Johnson and Maude Ferrell Mott Johnson. She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers and sisters, Blanche Johnson White, Jackie Johnson, Dudley Johnson, Tommy Johnson and Patsy Johnson. Survivors include her husband, Horace Strickland; daughters, Cynthia White and husband Norman, Tina Sartor and husband Danny, and Angela Strickland; brothers, Bill Johnson and Richard Daley Johnson; grandchildren, Christopher Devin Kelley, Brian Matthew Kelley, Rachel Emily Parish, Katie Lynn Parish, Leah Danielle Kelley, Kyle Andrew Parish, Mark Michael Pouhe, Angelina Michelle Pouhe and Eric Mathew Pouhe; great-grandson, Jackson Horace Norman Kelley. Mrs. Strickland was a teacher’s aide for Tarkington Independent School District. She loved traveling, reading, eating ice cream, and drinking coke. She also loved to collect new looking old one hundred dollar bills. She was loved beyond measure and will be missed by all. Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 24, 2014, 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. with at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at the Tarkington Prairie Baptist Church with Brother Silas Hare officiating. Interment will follow at Ryan Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Tarkington Prairie Baptist Church in Mary’s name.
