Mattie June Hardin was born June 1, 1950 in Tyler, Texas to parents, Wilborn Oliver Rozell Sr. and Lorraine A. Spady Rozell. She passed away August 27, 2024 in Houston, Texas at the age of 74.
Mattie has lived in Tarkington, Texas for the past 4 years and is a former resident of Tyler. Texas. She spent many years of her life as a beautician. All the high school girls would come to her to get their prom "up-do's". She was a very giving person and always put other peoples needs before her own. Mattie loved making handmade items for her family and their friends for every special occasion and holiday. She had a deep love for the Dallas Cowboys. She loved collecting both Cowboys and Coke memorabilia. Mattie was an avid and phenomenal bowler. Mattie’s greatest love was for her family and she loved being a Nana the most. She will be greatly missed by everyone that knew and loved her.
Mattie was preceded in death by her parents, Wilborn and Lorraine Rozell. She is survived by her beloved husband of 51 years, James Hardin Sr.; son, James Hardin II and wife Laura Hardin; daughter, Lori Hardin Waller and husband Clyde Waller III; grandchildren, Eric Scheffler II, Aulixandra Hardin, Sarah Hardin, Felicity Hardin, Clyde Waller IV, Autumn Waller; brother, Billy Rozell and wife Pat Rozell; sisters, Kay Thompson and husband Greg Thompson, Ginger Johnson and husband Tommy Johnson; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home on Thursday, September 5, 2024 from 6-8pm. Funeral Service is scheduled for Friday, September 6, 2024 at 10:30am in the Pace-Stancil Chapel. Burial will be in the Houston National Cemetery on Friday, September 6, 2024 at 1:15pm. Pallbearers for the service will be, Jason Rozell, James Hardin II, Clyde Waller III, and Eric Scheffler II.
