Matthew Anthony Forbes

Matthew Anthony Forbes, 11, of Dayton was called by the Lord on Monday, June 4, 2018 in Houston, Texas. Matthew was born July 15, 2006 in Houston, Texas to parents Stanley Forbes and Melanie Clark Forbes.

A celebration of Matthew’s life will be 4:00 p.m., Sunday, June 10, 2018 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at service time on Sunday at Pace-Stancil.

Matthew had lived in Dayton most of his life and was student at Woodrow Wilson Jr. High School where he was a straight A student. His classmates loved him and argued sometimes over who got to work with him in small groups or partners. Matthew was a Math Whiz and his claim to fame was that he was only one of two sixth graders in the entire grade that had a perfect STAAR score in 5th grade! It wasn’t only his math ability that drew others to him but his sweet spirit and patient demeanor. He enjoyed Legos, Pokémon, and reading sports books. Matthew really enjoyed watching the Astros, Rockets, Texans, and Cowboys. He represented the Muscular Dystrophy Association at many of their events and attended activities sponsored by MDA.

Matthew was preceded in death by his grandfather, Dewey Rice and great-aunt, Linda Dawkins. He is survived by his parents, Stan and Melanie Forbes of Dayton; grandparents, Jane Rice of Covington, Tennessee, Benny and Sandra Clark of Dayton; brothers, Brandon Forbes of Beaumont, Arin Forbes of Webster, Kile Allen of Fort Worth, Zachary Balcerowicz of Bridge City and Nicholas Forbes of Dayton; aunt, Kimberly Hall and husband Lee; cousin, Dylan; special little friend, LiLi; also numerous other friends and relatives.
