Mary Lou Gobert, age 89, of Coldspring, Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Tuesday, April 1, 2014. She was born October 27, 1924, in Shepherd, Texas, to parents Sidney “Sid†and Onia Plunkett Sherrod who preceded her in death along with her first husband, Robert Earl Day; second husband, Willie Wilbert “Blackie†Gobert; brother, Eugene “Gene†Elbert Sherrod; sisters, Willie Beatrice “Bea†Vann, and twin sister, Martha Lee Enloe; step-daughter, Kathleen Brooks; granddaughter, Tamra Kay Williams; great-grandchildren, Christopher Earl Wheeler and Steven Mikel Brown. Visitation will be held Saturday, April 5, 2014, 5:00-9:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas. Graveside services will be held Sunday, April 6, 2014, 2:00 p.m., at Montague Cemetery, Cleveland, Texas. Rev. George Hayden, Pastor of Pin Oak Baptist Church will be officiating. Survivors include her son, Sidney “Earl†Wheeler, Sr. and wife, Mary J.; step-son, Ronald Gobert and wife, Marion; step-daughter, Patricia Busch; brother, Travis Ray Sherrod and wife, Dorothy; grandchildren, Jerry “Marie†Jackson and husband, Fredrick; Sidney Earl "Butch" Wheeler, Jr. and wife, Carmen; William Eugene "Bruno" Wheeler and wife, Theresa; Kathy Lynn Marines and husband, George; Erina Annette Berden, and Kelly Juhree Jones; twenty-two great-grandchildren; seventeen great-great-grandchildren; as well as many other cherished family members and friends.
