Mary Florence Martin Vrana, 81, of Dayton peacefully passed away Monday, May 14, 2018 at home surrounded by her family. She was born December 21, 1936 in Terrell, Texas to parents, Claude W. Martin and Lovie Kay Clemmons Martin.
Graveside service for Mary will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 17, 2018 at Palms Memorial Park Cemetery in Dayton. The family will receive friends 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday evening at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home.
Mary had been a longtime resident of Dayton after moving from Sheldon. She graduated from Galena Park High School and had worked for Enterprise in Mont Belvieu for over 26 years before retiring. Mary was Baptist by faith. She loved spending time with her family and her grandchildren were her pride and joy. Mary and Ernest celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on May 5th. She had a backyard that looked like a picture from Southern Living Magazine. She loved feeding and watching her wild birds. Mary also enjoyed quilting.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Claude W. and Lovie Kay Martin; parent-in-laws, Charles and Selma Vrana; her son, Gary Wayne Vrana; grandson, Phillip Charles Westmoreland; brothers, C.L. “Buddy” Martin and Billy Ray Martin; and sister, Ann Melcer.
She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Ernest C. Vrana of Dayton; son, Kenneth Gene Vrana and wife Sheila of Dayton; daughters, Kathy Lynn Westmoreland and husband Michael of Dayton and Pamela Kay Klimitchek and husband Randal of Dayton; grandchildren, Kenneth “Daniel” Vrana and wife Kristina, Katie Michelle Westmoreland and fiancé David Zghaib, Keith Randal Klimitchek, Travis Lane Vrana, and Jessica Westmoreland; great-grandchildren, Zachary Ryan Westmoreland, Carter Reed Vrana, Gary Wayne Westmoreland, and Carly Rae Vrana; sister, Shirley Tobis; brothers-in-law, James Vrana and wife Shirley, Ray Vrana, David Vrana, and Johnny Melcer; sister-in-law, Dorothy Hylton and husband Harry; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
