Mary Edwards Elliott, 91, of Dayton peacefully went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 23, 2017.
Services from Mary Elliott will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 29, 2017 at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor R.J. Revels, Jr. officiating. Visitation will be 9:00 to 11:00 before the service at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Acie Cemetery under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton.
Mary Elliott was born December 2, 1925 in Maryville, Louisiana to parents, Horace Edwards, Sr. and Theater Baker Edwards. Mary was baptized at an early age. She was
a lifelong resident of Dayton and was known by all for her great wisdom of the Lord. She loved her family and friends. She ministered to all her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great great-grandchildren about her love of the bible. Mary also shared her love through making over 589 quilts since 1982, giving these to family and friends. Mary worked at Frank’s Cafe for many years as Mrs. Frank’s loyal cook. She was a member of the Mt. Olive Missionary
Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years.
Mary Edwards Elliott was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Mary Ann Jones, brothers, Horace Edwards, Jr. and Roosevelt Edwards, sisters, Annie Bell, Ellice Stewart and
Eva Pennywell; nephew, Woodroe Clay, Sr., and granddaughters, Darlene, Tiffany and Janet Redmon, great great-granddaughter, Anjelica and one god child, “Bubba” Leslie Warren. She is survived by her children, Ruthie Walker, Lois Redmon, Barbara Criner and Cleveland Elliott, Jr., all of Dayton; Robert Elliott, Sr. and wife Etherine of Houston and Joe Stevenson Elliott and wife Dana of California; 20 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren, 22 great great-grandchildren; great niece, Gail Robinson and great nephews, Woodroe Clay, Jr. and wife Margie and Glen Clay, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
