Mary Carolyn Murphy

Mary Carolyn Murphy, 73, of Huntsville passed away on May 19, 2022, in Madisonville, Texas. She was born September 28, 1948, in Laurel, Mississippi to parents Eldridge and Bertha Holifield Landrum.

Mary was a long-time resident of Dayton where she attended Dayton schools and was a member of the class of 1967. Mary was a former member of Trinity Baptist Church in Dayton. She had lived in Huntsville since 1999. Mary collected many items and enjoyed shopping flea markets.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Carl Landrum; and one great-grandchild. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband of 56 years, James “Pistol” Murphy, Sr.; her children, James Edward Murphy, Jr., Mary Carolyn Murphy, and John Eldridge Murphy; twelve grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Tammy Landrum; sisters-in-law, Linda Remsing, Janice O’Neill and husband Colin, Lorretta Bell, Debra Strawn, Cathy Brandon; brother-in-law, Dale O’Neill; also numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Graveside Service for Mary will be 12:00 p.m., Thursday, May 26, 2022, at Ryan Cemetery. The family will receive friends 9:00 to 11:00 on Thursday before the service at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton. Honoring Mary as pallbearers are Colin O’Neill, Luke Landrum, Warren O’Neill, John Bell and Darrell Strawn.
