Mary Arlene Jones Bazzoon

Mary Arlene Jones Bazzoon of Tarkington Prairie, TX, passed away Saturday, March 27, 2010. She was born March 14, 1927 in New Willard, Polk County, Texas to parents Ode and Mary E. Jones. March 27, 2010. She graduated from Corrigan ISD and continued her education at SHSU and received a B.S. in Home Economics and M. Ed in Education. Her first job was in Hull-Daisetta ISD at the age of 19. She then moved to Tarkington where she started the Home Economics program for the school district. She taught several subjects in the secondary grades. She was married to Drafton R. Bazzoon for 59 years and 23 days until his death in August 2005. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Carolyn Spell and grandson, Joseph D. Spell of Spring, TX. Her sister, O’Lena Perkins, husband Allen of Pearland, nephews Mark Perkins (Karen); Jimmy Bazzoon (Berlyn); Billy Bazzoon, (Jaime); John Bazzoon (Juliana); Robert Haltom; nieces include Linda Cook, (Bob); Frances Tilton; Helen Gruver, (Randall); Kim Tucker, (Greg). During retirement she was involved with her grandson, “Jody” and enjoying life with Drafton spending time in the country. She volunteered at the Cleveland Senior Center for several years. She shared her knowledge with thousands of students, neighbors and friends. Visitation will be held Thursday, 5:00-9:00 p.m., April 1, 2010 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, TX. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 2, 2010, 10:00 a.m. at the Pace-Stancil Chapel. Graveside services will be held Friday, April 2, 2010, 2:00 p.m. at Union Springs Cemetery in Corrigan. TX
