Obituary Mary Angeline Smith, 86, of New Braunfels, passed away Saturday July 12, 2014 in New Braunfels, Comal County, Texas. Graveside service for Mrs. Smith will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 17, 2014 at Guedry Cemetery in Batson, Texas, under the direction of Pace Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton, Texas. Pastor Rob Jeffrey will conduct the service. Visitation Wednesday, July 16, 2014, 3 to 5 p.m. Honorary pallbearers are; John Gabriel Trevino, Lloyd Bishop, Edward Gaither and Bill Baty. Mary was born September 3, 1927, in Sour Lake, Hardin County, Texas, to her parents; Lizzie Matthews and Thomas Eugene Bishop. Mary attended Batson school. She made her residence in many communities in Texas. Mary was a former resident of Liberty, Rye, Baytown, Pleasanton and has resided in New Braunfels for the past several years. Mary loved spending time in God’s Word and spent many hours in Bible study, she was a member of Atascosa Christian Fellowship. Mrs. Smith was a hard worker and was employed for many years as a carpenters’ helper for Brown and Root Construction, Company. Mary also enjoyed traveling, reading, fishing. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and canning. Mrs. Smith especially loved working in her flower gardens, painting pictures and spending time with her family. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by husbands: Alfred Vinson, Sr., Richard Stone and John Smith; parents: Lizzie and Thomas Bishop; brothers: John Louis Bishop, James Patrick “Pat” Bishop and Earl Robert Bishop; great-grandson: Daniel Vinson; nephew: Greg Bishop and niece: Aubra Edge. Mary is survived by her daughters: Ann Marie Dotson Watt and Liz Stone-Wright; son: Alfred “Al” Lafet Vinson, Jr.; daughter-in-law: Barbara Ann Burleigh-Vinson; son-in-law: James Watt; sisters: Anna Jean Guedry, June Maxine Bishop and Doris Helen Gaither; grandchildren: Al’s children: Stephanie Angeline Vinson, Richard Lafet Vinson and Christine Desiree’ Vinson-Alfaro Ann’s children: Dawn Marie Biering and Brittney Leigh Hickam Liz’s children: John Morris Andrews, Jr., Jeremiah Andrews, and Jamie LeiAnn Blocker Great-grandchildren: Stephanie’s children: Ariel Hester, Seth Tieman; Richard’s children: Daniel Vinson, Tyler Kimbrell-Vinson, Alexus Vinson and Richard Vinson, Jr.; Christine’s children: David Muniz, Benito Alfaro, Jr., Khloe Alfaro; Dawn’s children: Dane Achalas, Kristy Underwood, David Underwood; Brittney’s children: Tristan Helmick and Jack Hickam; John’s children: Dylan Peoples-Andrews and Hunter Andrews; Jeremiah’s children: Sierrah Andrews and Tristan Andrews; Jamie’s children: Carson Barton, Teagen Barton, Faith Barton-Blocker, Hope Barton-Blocker,Carlie Barton and Alexander Barton. Great-great-grandchildren: Ariel’s children: Jayden Henning and Layla Redmond; Kristy’s children: Abraham Morton and William Roach; David's child: Isabelle Underwood; Nieces: Anna’s daughters: Anna Lou Melear and Dorothy Smith; John’s daughters: Ruth and Karen Bishop; June’s daughters: Jean Marroquin, Mary Emma Massicotte, Doris Nowell, and Aubra Edge; Doris’s daughter: Janice Baty; Earl’s daughters: Janet and Janice Bishop Nephews: Anna's son: Jerison "Jerry" Guedry; John's sons: Tommy, Roy, Johnny, and Greg Bishop; June's son: James Don Zodaka; Doris’s sons: Edward, Gary, Lonnie, and Michael Gaither; Pat's sons: Patrick and Lloyd Bishop. Other relatives and numerous friends. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Guedry Cemetery Association, 11713 Batson Prairie Road Batson,Texas in memory of Mary Smith for upkeep of the cemetery.
