Marta Carol Heizer Kerr was born October 22, 1927, to Martin Heizer and Ethel L. Handy in South Haven, Sumner County, Kansas. She passed peacefully September 5, 2019 at 91 years of age.
A celebration of life well lived will be 1:00 p.m., Sunday, September 8, 2019 at the chapel of the First United Methodist Church in Liberty.
Marta married Theodore Kerr on June 2, 1945 in Arizona. She was pre-deceased by her parents, her sister Maxine Kolarik and brother Chester “Clair” Heizer, her husband Theodore, her son Michael, a granddaughter Mariah Kerr, and a grandson Adam Kerr.
She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Brandli and husband Al, sons, Patrick Kerr and wife Ping, Timothy Kerr and wife Carolyn, daughter, Sylvia Willis and husband Wallace. Her grandchildren are Marta Anderson and wife Sally, David Anderson, Carole Michelle Kerr, Aaron Kerr and wife Amy, Dustin Kerr and wife Devin, Daniel Kerr and Rio Shayne, Joseph Nehez and wife Samantha, 10 great grandchildren, a host of cousins and friends.
Marta was a member of the First United Methodist Church, a member of Eastern Star, and a former officer of Libertad Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. She was also a former member of the Coterie Club. She was an active supporter of Friends of the Liberty Municipal Library and the Blood Bank. Marta enjoyed watching MASH and was a true Mickey Mouse fan.
A special “Thank You” to her very dear friend Suzanne Snider and son Jeffery as well as to the staff at Brighter Days Assisted Living Facility.
