Marie Gilmore

Katie “Marie” Gilmore was born February 16, 1949 in Pasadena, Texas. She passed away December 22, 2023 in Splendora, Texas at the age of 74. Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Chester Hollis and Katie Marmon; son, Lloyd Logan Lucas. She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Roger Gilmore; daughters, Missy Jones and husband Eddy, Paula Muck and husband Geoffrey, Lisa Oglesby and husband Jay; step son, Brent Gilmore and wife Aimee; brothers, Doyle Wayne Hollis and wife Debbie, James Edward Hollis; sisters, Peggy Sweeten and husband Mack, Donna Birdsong and husband Richard, Julie Ann Marmon; sister-in-law, Brenda Newberry and husband Jerry; aunt, Dovie Burr; grandchildren, Grant Jones and partner Rebekkah, Presley Jones, Christian Muck, Noah Muck and wife Heaven, Jasmyn Oglesby, Matthew Hooper, Lillian Lucas, Loran Lucas, Myles Lucas, Resse Gilmore, Beau Gilmore; great granddaughter, Logan Sanders; many other family members and friends.

Until her illness became more pronounced, Marie was always very active.  She enjoyed time with friends camping, playing darts, cook-offs, fishing, etc.  There was always a craft or hobby project in her home.  She was the center of her family, raising four children as a single mother, making it a point to spend time with each family member and to be there for every big event. She always had a way of making you laugh and was ready to give anyone the shirt off her back if needed. In addition, you could always depend on Marie to give you an honest opinion! 

A memorial service will be held at 12pm on January 13th at CT Church New Caney with Pastor Roger Obergon officiating.
