Margie J. Sledge Russell, of Liberty, Texas, flew away with her angels on Wednesday, November 4, 2015, to be with her Lord and Savior, after a lengthy illness. She was 92 years young and loved her family, friends and life. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, November 8, 2015, at the Central Baptist Church in Liberty, with services concluding thereafter. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., Sunday, at the church. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton. Graveside services will be held at a later date at Resthaven Memorial Park in Midland, under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home. Margie was born July 18, 1923 in Teague, to parents; Homer and Mettie L. Stevens Sledge. She was a graduate of the Teague High School, a retired legal secretary, and member of the Central Baptist Church in Liberty, Texas. She and her husband, Bill Russell, had lived many years in Midland, Texas then moved to Liberty, Texas in 2007. She will be remembered as a devoted Christian lady that read her bible every day of the week. Mrs. Russell was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 67years: William “Bill†Russell, son: William “Billy Ted†Russell, Jr., and all of her siblings. She is survived by her niece: Martha Hunt of Quinlan, great-niece: Trish Winfrey Breaux of Flower Mound, one great-nephew: Randy Winfrey of Katy, as well as numerous nieces and nephews by marriage along with other relatives and friends. In passing, we would like to say that we will always remember our 'Aunt Margie' and will miss her dearly, especially her quick wit and sense of humor.
