Margaret Elizabeth Morris, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2025, just outside of Nashville, Tennessee at the age of 85 surrounded by family.
Born in Livingston, Texas, on December 29, 1939 to parents George W. Blagg and Minnie Rush Blagg, Margaret was a devoted life long member of both the community in Cleveland, Texas through her twenty five years of work with Cleveland ISD Elementary and her reverent membership as part of the congregation of The First United Pentecostal Church where her legacy touched all who were blessed to know her.
Best known for her Christmas tree cookies, lemon pound cake, waffles, and relish Margaret was a master of the kitchen. Once baking eighty cakes for which her daughters had taken the orders, Margaret was a pillar of the churches Ladies Auxiliary. Often the Captain of fund raising teams, she loved hosting parties for any and all occasions from holiday gatherings, to baby showers, and wedding showers, always making sure everyone was fed, not resting until she was certain you were full.
A woman with a natural sense for the creative, Margaret was an avid pianist who began playing at church at a young age and continued to do so until the 1980’s. She handmade all her girls clothes until they were in high school, quilts and sock monkeys for all her grandchildren, and she was particularly popular with her children and grandchildren’s classmates on holidays due to the fact that every one received hand made treats and favors crafted from the heart. Margaret left an indelible mark on each and ever soul she encountered and will be dearly missed.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Minnie Rush Blagg Whitmire; father, George W. Blagg; father in law, Jack Morris; mother in law, Stacia Morris; and loving Fox Terrier Chico. Margaret is survived by her beloved husband, Chubby Morris; daughters, Deborah Renee Morris, and Theresa Marvelle Manuel and husband Greg; grandchildren, Brett Graham and wife Charly, Brooke Graham Enoch and husband Ben, Gregory Manuel, Lyndsey Marvelle Schryver and husband Grant, and Tyler Chase Manuel; great-grandchildren, Eisley Adalyn Manuel, Elynn Aubrey Manuel, Elliott “Ellie” Ryan Enoch, Mackenzie “Mack” Earl Enoch, Maverick Ryan Graham, Malaki Dean Graham, Jude Robinson Schryver, and Gregory “Rory” Levi Schryver; extended family, Carlyn Johnson and husband Buddy, Tammy Parker and husband Randall, Micheal Johnson and wife Tresha, Kevin Johnson and wife Nicole, Brent Johnson and wife to be Kaylie, McKenzie Welch and husband Josh, Hunter Johnson and wife Erica, Tanner Johnson, Riley Johnson, and Megan Crosswhite and husband Joel; sister in law, Donna Morris; brother in law, Bill Morris and wife Renee; special family members, Joel Graham and Donnie Whitmire, numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be held Friday, March 28, 2025 at The Sanctuary in Cleveland, Texas from 5-8pm. Funeral Service is scheduled for Saturday, March 29, 2025 at The Sanctuary at 2pm with Pastor Kevin Howard, Pastor Greg Gerald, and Bro. Douglas Hollie. Burial will follow in the Cleveland Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers for the service will be, Michael Johnson, Shannon Cheatham, Kevin Johnson, Donnie Whitmire, Joel Graham, Tyler Manuel, Brett Graham, Gregory Manuel, and Raymond Robinson. Services handled under the trusted care of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home.
