Margaret Louise Smart Volkert

Margaret L. Smart Volkert, 77, of Liberty, died Tuesday, June 22, 2010, at her residence in Liberty. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 25, 2010, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at the Cooke Memorial Cemetery in Liberty. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton. Margaret was born December 22, 1932 in Silsbee, to parents; Elbert J. and Annie L. Tillman Smart, a former resident of Sinton, and has resided in the Liberty area for the past 33 years. She was a homemaker, member of the Bethel Assembly of God Church. Through the years, she had served as song leader, Sunday school teacher, and mission sponsor. She loved God, her family, game nights, good natured teasing, and a nightly bowl of Blue Bell. She was loved by all and will be greatly missed. Mrs. Volkert was preceded in death by her parents, two great-grandchildren: Jonas Roy Turner and Reagan Faith Turner, and brothers: E. J. and Joe Smart. She is survived by her husband of 59 years: Roy Carl Ernest Volkert of Liberty, daughter: LuLu Paschall and husband Terry of Bandung, Indonesia, son: Ken Volkert and wife Marilyn of San Marcos, daughter: Nell Fox of Baytown, grandchildren: Kristee Paschall-Johnson and husband Greg of Denver, CO, Donavon Paschall and wife Mandy of Denver, CO, Darren Paschall of Denver, CO, Stephanie Guajardo and husband Robert of San Marcos, Angelyn Turner and husband Shelby of San Marcos, Alison Blanscet and husband Chilton of Cove, and Lauren Fox of Baytown, great-grandchildren: Miles, Eli, and Amelia Paschall-Johnson, Victoria Guajardo, Noah Turner, Nora and Leah Paschall, and Jade Blanscet, brothers: Donald Ray Smart and wife Audry of Liberty and R. N. Smart and wife Sue of Liberty, sisters-in-law: Sarah Smart of Liberty and Katie Smart of Liberty, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
