Lynda Kay Hoot, 59, of Shepherd, died Tuesday, May 29, 2012, at the Odyssey Healthcare Center in Conroe. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 2, 2012, at the First Baptist Church of Shepherd with burial following at the Big Creek Cemetery in Shepherd. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Cleveland. Lynda was born July 19, 1952 in El Campo, to parents; J.C., Jr. and Valley Johnson Hoot, and has been a lifelong resident of the Shepherd area. She attended Clear Creek High School, was a homemaker, and enjoyed watching the Texans, gardening, her dog, movies, painting, and especially spending time with her family. Ms. Hoot was preceded in death by her parents: J.C., Jr. and Valley Johnson Hoot and brothers: Darrel and Johnny Hoot. She is survived by her sons: Michael Brent Sylvester and wife Caroline Beth of Shepherd and Jody Allen Simpson and wife LeeAnn of Shepherd, grandchildren: Joseph Edward Sylvester, Adison June Simpson, and Tiffany Alexus Salisbury, nephews: Kevin and Chris Hoot, nieces: Terry Swindell, Donna Schnaiderman, and Karen Koerth, her dear friend: Mason Boston, her friend and companion: Ms. Peepers, and numerous other relatives, and friends.
