Lyle Marshall Davis

Lyle Marshall Davis, age 88 and a resident of Shepherd, Texas, passed away Saturday, September 07, 2013 at his home. He was born March 07, 1925 in Tyrone, Iowa to parents Milo Augustus Davis and Orpha Lavina Jones Davis. He was a Deacon of his Baptist church for many years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a distinguished Veteran of the United States Army during WWII; a member of the Hardin ISD School Board, Boy Scouts of America and Veterans of America. Mr. Davis owned several companies: L.M. Davis Roofing Company, Continental Roofing Company and he worked for the Sherriff’s Department. He was happily married for 70 years, just celebrating their 70th Anniversary on August 3rd, 2013; a Patriarch of his family and an inspiration to the whole family. He will be greatly missed. He is preceded in death by his parents Milo Augustus Davis and Orpha Lavina Jones Davis; and his son Don Marshall Davis of Tarkington Prairie, Texas. Survivors include his loving wife Dana Francis Davison Davis of Shepherd, Texas; sons Michael Lee Davis and wife Susan of Shepherd, Texas; and Richard Lyle Davis and wife Victoria of Romayor, Texas; daughter Gale Lynn Davis of Splendora, Texas; daughter-in-law LuElla Phillips Davis of Tarkington Prairie, Texas; grandchildren Holly Lynn Davis Gill and husband Jason of Cleveland, Texas, Clint Marshall Davis of Porter, Texas, Robin Eileen Davis Nichols and husband John of Cleveland, Texas, Jeremy Michael Davis and wife Luissana of Shepherd, Texas, Heath Eugene Tyler and wife Amy of Climax, Michigan, Eric Lloyd Tyler and wife Christie of Porter, Texas, Annie Lynn Tyler Shiflet and husband Glenn of Splendora, Texas, Felica Ann Tyler of Cleveland, Texas, Richard Michael Davis of Romayor, Texas; great-grandchildren Eli Skeet Gill, Sabrina Nichols, Samantha Nichols, Sarah Nichols, Brandon Davis, Sofia Davis, Summer Tyler, Daisy Tyler, Paige Tyler, Heatherly Tyler, Rebecca Tullos, Allison Tullos, Lari Tyler, James Shiflet, Marshall Shiflet, Zachery Shiflet, Deven Wallace, and Alysia Hooper; and many other loving family members and treasured friends throughout the years. Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 10, 2013, 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 11, 2013, Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel, Cleveland, Texas with Bro. Preston Baker and Bro. Clyde Sommers officiating. Interment will follow at Romayor Cemetery, Romayor, Texas. Pallbearers include Clint Davis, Jeremy Davis, Heath Tyler, Eric Tyler, Richard Davis, Jason Gill, and John Nichols.
