Lura Spencer Mire, 93 of Dayton passed away Friday, February 9, 2018. Mrs. Mire was born October 24, 1924 in Dayton, Texas to parents, Thomas Fred Spencer and Mora Frazier Spencer.
Services for Mrs. Mire will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, February 15, 2018 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Randy Piatt officiating. Interment will follow at Magnolia Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at Pace Stancil.
Lura was a lifelong resident of Dayton. She attended Dayton schools and was a member of the Class of 1942. She was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church for 93 years and taught a Ladies Sunday School Class for 50 plus years. She had worked as City Secretary for Dayton and was a true Dayton supporter. Mrs. Mire was a member of the Lakata Club, Priscilla Club, Stitch and Chatter Club and the Dayton Historical Society.
Lura was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 64 years, Lloyd Edward Mire and the love of her life, her yorkie Honey. She is survived by many cousins, other family members and her special friends and companions of 57 years, Leatrice and Denny Johnson.
