Luella Durham

Luella Durham, 93, of Ames passed away at home, on Saturday December 29, 2018.
Luella was born March 23, 1925 in Jasper, Texas, to Greeley Jenkins and Avery Renfro Jenkins.

A celebration of Mrs. Durham’s life at 11:00 a.m., Saturday January 5, 2019 at St Miles Missionary Baptist Church. The Reverends Dwight Pruitt and Hurdis Rhodes, III will officiate. Pallbearers will be Henry Dugat, Jr., Alonzo Manuel Dugat, Christopher Durham Dugat, Dexter Brooks, Leroy Brooks, Jr., and Aaron Durham. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. until service time at the church. Interment will follow at Wells Cemetery.

Luella had lived in Liberty for 83 years. She was a homemaker and worked in the healthcare field as a nurse’s aide her retirement. Luella was a member of St. Miles Missionary Baptist Church for 50 years. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.

Mrs. Durham was preceded in death by her parents, Greeley and Avery Jenkins; husband, Jeffery Durham; daughter, Minnie Rhodes; brother, Wilmer Jenkins; sister, Modess Mosley; sons-in-law, Henry Lloyd Dugat, James Gillis and grandson-in-law, Amos D. Mosley.

Luella is survived by her sons, Rickie Durham and Dwight Durham and wife Francescea; daughters, Bennie Lee Dugat, Lena Gillis Avery Faye Brooks and husband, Leroy; grandchildren, Henry Dugat, Jr. and wife Gladys, Daphne Faye Dickerson, Alonzo Manuel Dugat and wife, Betty, Christopher Durham Dugat and wife, Angelique, Pamela Y. Gillis, Dexter Brooks, Leroy Brooks, Jr. and wife, Cheryle, Aaron C. Durham, Cynthia Mosley Hurdis Rhodes, II and wife Tamara and Brandi Rhodes; 32 great grandchildren; 17 great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
