Lucille Lamb, age 87 of Porter, Texas, passed away Tuesday, October 11, 2016. She was born August 14, 1929 in Rusk, Texas to parents Cindy Cornelius Watkins Blake and Edgar Floyd Blake who preceded her in death along with her stepfather, Howell Dyson; husband, James E. Lamb, Sr.; sisters, Gertie Mae Penn, Helen Hiemes and Alma Mae Wesley; and brothers, Floyd Jack Blake and Albert A. “Bill” Blake.
After marrying James E. Lamb, Sr., she lived in Cleveland for over 60 years. Lucille worked as a legal secretary until she and James started their family. She then stayed home to be a full-time mother and raise their children. She worked and retired from Cleveland Wal-Mart where countless people enjoyed seeing her.
Survivors include her daughters, Melba Lamb Newberry, Merle Lamb Barnhart and husband Johnnie; sons, James E. Lamb, Jr. and Gerald W. Lamb and wife Gina; sister, Willie Maude Windham; grandchildren, Gerry Dale Newberry, Jr., Chad E. Newberry, Barry W. Barnhart & wife Catherine, Daniel E. Lamb & wife Abby, Joseph W. Lamb; four great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Thursday, October 13, 2016 at Pace Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas. Graveside services will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 14, 2016 at Wells Cemetery, Cleveland, Texas.
