Loy had been a resident of Dayton for 47 years after moving from Levelland, Texas where he worked in the family business of Spears Pump Company. Loy was a Levelland Lobo class of 1954-55. Loy retired from Gulf/Chevron where he worked as a supervisor for over 30 years. He loved his family and his world revolved around his grandkids which he supported in all their activities. Pawpaw as he was fondly called by all kids, was a true Dayton Bronco fan, attending all sports from little league through high school and college. Loy loved to teach hunting, fishing, and farming. He sported a large garden every year and supplied vegetables to his neighbors. He was most definitely a people person and enjoyed drinking coffee with the local business people and bragging about the Broncos. Music was always a part of his childhood and he played the guitar and fiddle. He also liked to show off his country yodel.
Mr. Spears was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter Denise Spears. He is survived by his daughters, Trudie Dewey and husband Billy and Danna Ferris and husband Mark; grandchildren, Brittany Dewey, Erin Janik and husband Dustin, Andrew Dewey, and Matthew Ferris; brothers, Arnold Spears and wife Myrtie, Elton Spears and wife Jeanie, Jack Spears and wife Linda; sisters, Frankie Pond, Geneva Spears, and B.J.
