Lori Ames Tapley

Lori Leanne Ames Tapley, 55 of Dayton passed away Thursday, October 6, 2016 after a strong and courageous battle with cancer.

Visitation for Lori will be 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton. Service will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 13, 2016 at Kenefick Southern Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff Day officiating.

Lori was born March 16, 1961 in Texas City, Texas to parents William W. Ames and Patricia M. Maloney Ames. She attended Alvin High School graduating in 1980. Her family moved to Dayton 20 years ago and Lori has been extremely active in the community. She has worked for the Dayton Chamber of Commerce, the Dayton Community Development Corporation, and for Dayton ISD as a substitute teacher. Most recently Lori was employed by Brookshire Brothers Pharmacy where she met and cared for each one of her customers with the biggest smile and caring heart. Lori enjoyed fishing, crabbing, and mowing. She was a true lover of outdoors, attending her boy’s activities and taking care of stray animals. Lori will truly missed by all that knew her.

Lori was preceded in death by father, William W. Ames; brother, Steve Ames; stepfather, Harlan Lohmann and brother-in-law, Jimmy Tapley. She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Ronnie Tapley of Kenefick; two sons, Morgan Tapley and Loron Tapley of Kenefick; mother, Patricia M. Lohmann of Dayton; brother, Mike Ames of Hawaii; her mother and father-in-law, Roy and Joyce Tapley of Cayuga; brothers-in-law, David Tapley of Corsicana, Ricky Tapley and wife Donna of Mexia; sisters-in-law, Brenda Pruitt and husband Jeff of Grandview, and Cheryl Collins and husband Kel of Tennessee Colony; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
