Obituary for Linda Sharon Douglas Jones
Linda Sharon Douglas Jones, 77, passed away on January 15, 2025, in Dayton, Texas. She was born on August 28, 1947, in Texas City, Texas, to J.C. Douglas and Rachel Carouthers Douglas. Linda had been a resident of Dayton for the past 60 years, where she touched the lives of many through her work and her kindness.
In her younger years, Linda was a familiar face in the local community, working at the Rainbow Café and Mama Dons Restaurant. She later found success in various careers, including as an electrician, mail carrier, and a guard at the correctional unit. Throughout her life, Linda was a spiritual woman with a deep love for learning and exploring, often delving into genealogy and enjoying her travels.
Linda had a passion for nature, particularly her flower garden, and found joy in crafting macrame pieces. A lover of 60s and 70s music, she also had a fondness for the 1980s television show "Cops." Above all, Linda cherished the time she spent with her only grandson, Henry, whose presence brought her immeasurable happiness.
Linda is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, George Lane Jones, Sr. She is survived by her sons, George Land Jones, Jr. and Jason Jones; her brother, Jimmy Douglas, and his wife Pat; her grandson, George Henry Jones; nephew, Eric Douglas and wife Christy; niece, Mandy Herrington and husband Blair; and numerous other family members and friends.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to Vernitta Rivon, Linda’s personal caregiver, and the staff at ALTUS Hospice for the love and care shown to Linda during her final years.
A visitation will be held on Monday, January 20, 2025, at Pace Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by a service at 12:00 p.m. Burial will take place at Palms Memorial Park Cemetery in Dayton. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or a charity of your choice in Linda's memory.
Linda's legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose warmth and spirit will be dearly missed.
