Lestie “Pearl†Ballinger Smesny, 76, passed away peacefully Thursday, March 19, 2015 in Liberty, Texas after a brave and long struggle with cancer. She was born October 24, 1938 in Liberty, Texas to parents, John Henry and Ila Pearl Dagle Ballinger. Pearl attended Liberty schools and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She had formerly worked at Bell’s, McGinity’s, and the Main Place. She had currently worked at Brookshire Bros. Pharmacy. She always greeted everyone with a smile, kind words, and leaving with laughter. She loved her family, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was always proud to keep you updated on their lives. Pearl was a great cook and enjoyed crocheting. She touched many and will be truly missed. Mrs. Smesny’s service will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 21, 2015 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Mike Blackburn officiating. Interment will follow at Magnolia Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday evening at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Bo Landriault, E.J. Wisegerber, Jason Payne, Bubba Richter, Billy Dewey, and Earl Heider. Honorary Pallbearers will be Travis Smesny, Andy Miller, Steven Carrell, Danny Votaw, Chris Krigar, Mike Haugenater, Randy Huntley, Pearl’s great grandchildren and Dayton Volunteer Fire Department. Pearl was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Lester “Buddy†Ballinger, Dale “Shorty†Ballinger and her sister, Ruby Siebert. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Anton C. Smesny of Dayton; her daughter, Karen Smesny Shipman and husband Buggs; her sons, Chuck Smesny and wife Lisa, and Kenny Smesny and wife Serena all of Dayton; grandchildren, Leia Miller and husband Andy, Chelsea Carrell & husband Steven, Lindsey Votaw & husband Danny, Erika Krigar and husband Chris, Travis Smesny and wife Lacy, Morgan Shipman; nine great-grandchildren, Kendall & Kenzie Miller, Grayson Carrell, Hunter, Savana and Audrey Votaw, Mila Krigar, Caleb Smesny & Landrey Goff and baby Carrell on the way; brother, Wayne Ballinger and wife Janelle of Wallisville; her very special friend, Bootsie Killen; sisters-in-laws, Georgia May and husband Van and Mary Wilkerson; brother-in-law, Robert Smesny and wife Malba; also numerous nieces, nephews other relatives and a host of friends.
