Lester Dee Lewis, Sr. passed away on July 16, 2024 surrounded by his loving family in Houston, Texas. He was born on August 28, 1951, in Dayton, Texas, to his parents Lester M. Lewis and Peggie Kohler Lewis. He was a lifelong resident of Dayton.
Lester led a remarkable life dedicated to service and commitment. After graduating from Dayton High School in the Class of 1970, he proudly served in the US Navy and was a respected member of the Nolan Pickett VFW Post #5621 in Liberty. With an incredible tenure of 48 years at American Rice Growers as a warehouse manager, Lester's dedication and work ethic set him apart. He was also an avid hunter and outdoorsman.
Known for his patriotism and love for working with local farmers, Lester was also recognized as a quiet helper who generously assisted others without seeking recognition. He found joy in spending quality time with his grandchildren and watching classic western movies.
In his personal life, Lester was survived by his beloved wife of 52 years Susie Lewis, his sons Lester Lewis, Jr., and Chris Lewis with his wife Altus, along with his dear grandchildren Sara Lewis, Christopher Lewis Jr., and Alexander Lewis. He is also survived by his sisters Theo Smith and Leslie Torrey, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, family members, and friends who cherished him dearly.
Services to honor and remember Lester's incredible life will be held on July 22, 2024. The visitation will take place from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM followed by a Memorial Service from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home located at 1304 N Cleveland St in Dayton, Texas.
Lester Dee Lewis, Sr. will forever be remembered for his kindness, dedication to others, and unwavering love for his family. May his legacy live on through the memories shared by all those who had the privilege of knowing him.
