Lemmie “L.J.” Goolsby, age 85 of Humble, Texas, passed away Tuesday, June 25, 2019. He was born December 31, 1933 in Latexo, Texas to parents Lennie J. Goolsby and Maudie Irene Cummings Goolsby who preceded him in death along with his grandson, Jerritt Lee Goolsby.
L.J. was a quiet man who loved to help people, and on many occasions opened his home for children in need of help. He enjoyed his animals very much especially his cows, his pig, George; horse, Pal; bird, Hobo; and bull ‘Alan Jackson’. He loved western movies and was also a great sports fan who watched the Rockets and Astros. L.J. was dearly loved by all who knew him, and he will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Beverly Ann Goolsby; son, Larry Jay Goolsby and wife Belinda; daughters, Dianna Stringfellow and husband Chris, Cheryl Greer, and Lisa Haden and husband, John; brother, Milton Goolsby; sisters, Linnie Ruth Jones and husband Lamar, and Betty Jean Garner and husband Buck; grandchildren, Jessica, Laressia, Jacob, Miranda, Ashley, Lonnie, B.J., Breanna, Travis, Katie, John Lewis, and Laurel Jane; great-grandchildren, Taylor, April, Leanna, Jace, Ty, Kaylee, Madison, Raegan, Nash, Ethan, Avery, Evin, Natalee, Zach, and Anna Maria; great-great-grandchildren, Raylinn and Leighton; numerous other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Thursday, June 27, 2019 at Pace Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 28, 2019 at Pace Stancil Chapel, Cleveland, Texas. Interment will follow at Ryan Cemetery, Cleveland, Texas.
