Lee Miller Bazzoon

Lee Miller Bazzoon, 84, passed away peacefully early on the morning of Thursday, April 29, a few days shy of her 85th birthday. She was an elegant woman known for her style, wit and a penchant for speaking her mind, but most of all for her great and giving heart. A loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she always put her family first. Lee was an avid reader and traveled widely. She was an active volunteer for decades in schools, as a Girl Scout leader and life member of the Texas Congress of Parents and Teachers. She was a faithful member of the Sunshine class at Willow Meadows Baptist Church in southwest Houston. Born in Corrigan, Texas, on May 8, 1925, to Hamilton (Pete) Miller and Verbie Lee Deggs, Lee grew up in east Texas during the Great Depression. She was a strong student, with a particular talent for math. After graduating from Cleveland High School in 1943, Lee went to work as a bookkeeper for W.C. Lindley Lumber Co. She married Wyly Addison Bazzoon on May 31, 1947, and they raised two daughters together. When the Bazzoons moved to Houston in the mid 1950s, Lee gave up her career and became a gifted homemaker. She is preceeded in death by her husband Addison Bazzoon and parents Pete and Verbie Miller. She is survived by her daughters Linda Cook (Bob) and Kimberly Tucker (Gregg); grandchildren Lynn Cook, Rob Cook, Kara Tucker and Amber Tucker; great grandson Evan Fowler Cook. The family wishes to thank the caring staff members of The Colonnades in Pearland and Odyssey hospice care. Visitation will be held Sunday, May 2, 2010, 3:00-6:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas. Rev. Jon D. Green will preside over graveside services held Monday, May 3, 2010, 11:00 a.m. at Montague Cemetery, Cleveland, Texas.
