Laurie Annie Mae Sallas

Laurie Annie Mae Sallas, age 91 and a resident of Apple Springs, Texas, passed away Sunday, November 10, 2013 at the home of her daughter. She was born on March 06, 1922 in Uvalde County, Texas. Mrs. Sallas was a homemaker and had a heart full of love. She was kind and giving, sweet and loving and deeply devoted to her family. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her loving husband since November 12, 1938 George Thomas Sallas; parents David Lee McClain and LeeEsther Ann Grooms McClain; children Esther Lavada Yarbrough and Lester Thomas Sallas; her sisters Ada Lee Pouncy, Dora Presswood, Pearl Gibson, and Catherine Spear; and her grandchildren George, Pamila and Andy. Survivors include her children Dessie L. Martin of Plum Grove, Texas, Mary Loretta Arrendell of Groveton, Texas, Anna Georgetta Vauter and husband John of Apple Springs, Texas, Kathrine Carol Reed and husband Freddie of Plum Grove, Texas; brothers Samuel McClain and Scotty McClain; grandchildren John, Mildred Jan, Bryant, Loretta, Debra, Johnny, Justin, Troy, Vicky, Shane, and Cody; numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other cherished family members and faithful friends. Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 13, 2013, 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas. Funeral services were held Thursday, November 14, 2013, 11:00 p.m. at Splendora United Pentecostal Church with interment following at Plum Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers include Jason Sommers, Shane Yarbrough, Duncan Yarbrough, Johnny Vauter, Justin Vauter, and Brandon Parish; honorary pallbearer includes Michael Arrendell.
