Kenneth Moriarty

Kenneth Dean Moriarty of Spring, Texas passed away on August 26, 2012 at the age of 87. He was born in Dewey , Oklahoma to Roy Moriarty and Leola Thomas Moriarty and moved with his family to Kilgore, Texas during the oil boom. Kenneth served in European Theater of Operations during World War II in a combat engineering battalion with the American 3rd Army led by General G.S. Patton. In December, 1944, he was wounded during 3rd Army's drive to relieve the encircled troops of Bastogne during the Battle of the Bulge, and was awarded a Purple Heart.He graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering, class of 1952. He had a long career with Getty Oil Company as a reserves and evaluation engineer, mostly in Houston.He was a member of Getty Alumni Association and a long-time member of Gethsemane United Methodist Church.Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Ruth Ellisor Moriarty, son, Keith Moriarty, daughter-in law Rosemary Moriarty, his daughter Colleen Callahan, and son in-law Russell Callahan. He is also is survived by his grandchildren: Bryan Callahan, Eric Callahan, Nicholas Moriarty, and Diana Moriarty and great granddaughter, Lauren Callahan. He also leaves behind nieces, nephews, cousins, brother in-law, sister in-law and many dear friends. Services: Pace-Stancil Funeral Chapel, Cleveland, Texas, Wednesday, August 29, 2012 with visitation at 1 pm, service at 2 pm.In lieu of flowers, please consider memorials to the charity of your choice.
