Kathryn Schilling Mace

January 19, 1922 — October 8, 2016

Kathryn L. “BeBe” Schilling Mace, 94, of Dayton, passed away Saturday, October 8, 2016, at the Rosemont Assisted Living Center in Humble.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 12, 2016, at the First United Methodist Church of Dayton. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Kathryn was born January 19, 1922 in Houston, to parents; Dewey W. and Emma James Schilling, and has been a lifelong resident of Dayton. She was a graduate of the Dayton High School class of 1939 and received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at “Old Red” in Galveston. She was a proud veteran of the US Army nursing corps with service during WW II, a member of the First United Methodist Church of Dayton and the Lakata Club. Kathryn was the first Dayton ISD school nurse, held her position for 28 years and was honored member of the Dayton ISD Wall of Fame. She also enjoyed crocheting, cooking, gardening, travel, and especially spending time with her grandchildren.

Mrs. Mace was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 51 years: Keith Mace, brothers: W. N. “Sonny” Schilling and Don Schilling, sister: Jean Holcomb, and her great-grandson: Tyler Schneiter. She is survived by her son: David Mace and wife Beverly of Atascocita, daughter: Renee Boyett and husband Terry of Dayton, grandchildren: Alison Lagg and husband Michael of Alaska, Amy Pritchett and husband Andy of Atascocita, Anya Mace of Atascocita, Angela Boyett Murphy of Kingwood, and Ashley Boyett of Dayton, great-grandchildren: Spencer Lagg, Bailey Lagg, Sydney Lagg, Taylar Schneiter, Andrew Murphy, Hunter Pritchett, Madelyn Pritchett, and Madison Pritchett, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
