Judy Smith, age 67 and a resident of Shepherd, Texas, passed away Friday, June 14, 2013 after a long battle with cancer. She died at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born October 24, 1945 in Houston, Texas. She was a loving and caring person who was devoted to her family. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She is preceded in death by her mother Thera York Christmas; father Woodrow Christmas Jr.; brother Donald Wayne Christmas; mother-in-law Letha Faye Smith; father-in-law Edgar Deal Smith. Survivors include her loving husband of 52 years James “Jimmy” “Pop” Smith; children: Bud Smith and wife Gale; daughters Rhonda Smith Black and husband Darrell and Dorinda Smith Griffin and husband Randy; brother: Larry Christmas and sister Alice Christmas Lux; grandchildren: Jimmy Black and wife Shara, Darren Black, Darrell “Little Guy” Black, Wendy Brister Fuselier and husband Darek, Garland "Trey" Brister and fiancé Tanya Padilla, Cassie Brister and fiancé Kyle Spry, Taylor LeeAnn Griffin, Savannah Griffin, Trever Smith, and Mercedes “Sadie” Smith; great-grandchildren: Boddy Black, Tony Diehl Jr., Luke Black, Urban Fuselier; nephews: Jody Lux, Dale Lux, Tommy Christmas, Bobby Christmas, Christopher Christmas, Larry Christmas, Wayne Massey, Glen Newcomb, Jerry Newcomb, Donny Newcomb, Randy Newcomb and BJ Hilton; nieces: Greta Lynn Christmas Coffman, Lori Christmas, Otella Jay Christmas, Tina Lux, Beverly Lux, Tina Massey Jones, Renee Massey Rodriguez, Lisa Hilton Noble, and Kim Hilton. Visitation will be held Monday, June 17, 2013, 5:00-9:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas. BJ Hilton and Bro. Bobby Aid will preside over funeral services being held 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 18, 2013, Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel, Cleveland, Texas with interment following at Moss Hill Cemetery, Moss Hill, Texas. Pallbearers include Jimmy Black, Boddy Black, Darren Black, Darrell Black, Trey “Garland” Brister, Trevor Smith, and Tony Diehl Jr.
