Obituary for Joyce Glenn High
Joyce Glenn High, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2024, in Baytown, Texas, at the age of 70. Born on October 17, 1953, to Jesse Glenn and Jewel Gilcrease, Joyce lived a life filled with love, faith, and family.
A proud graduate of C.E. King High School in 1972, Joyce initially dedicated her career to medical records before embracing her true passion as a devoted housewife and mother. For the last ten years, she called Baytown home, but her heart was deeply rooted in the East Houston area, where she spent many joyful years.
Joyce was an active member of Dayspring Church in Liberty, Texas, where her unwavering faith in God shone through her daily life. She found immense joy in cooking for her family, always preparing extra meals to share with others. Her warm spirit and nurturing heart were evident to all who knew her.
A devoted animal lover, Joyce particularly adored her Pomeranian puppies and took great pride in her gardening, cultivating vibrant flowers that reflected her green thumb. She loved spending time outdoors, boating, fishing, and watching the breathtaking sunsets from her tiny house—each moment a testament to her appreciation of life’s simple pleasures.
Joyce is preceded in death by her parents and her son, Jeffrey High. She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Alva High; her son, Steven High and wife, Christine; her brothers, Andy Glenn and wife Sandy, Johnny Glenn and wife Laurinda, and Kevin Glenn and wife Tracey; her grandchildren, Alexandria High and Jesse High; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and many friends who will forever cherish her memory.
A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at Pace Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton. A service celebrating Joyce’s life will take place on Friday, September 27, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at the same location, followed by burial at Palms Cemetery. Pastor Andy Glenn will officiate.
Joyce’s warmth, kindness, and love for her family will be profoundly missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
