Joyce Ann Yates

Joyce Ann Yates, age 80 of Shepherd, Texas, passed away Saturday, September 21, 2019. She was born July 27, 1939 in Nashville, Tennessee to parents Russell and Eloise Carter who preceded her in death along with her husband, Eugene Yates and nephew, Michael Carter.

Joyce was a member of the Shepherd Church of Christ and a 42-year member of A.A. Some of her passions included metal detecting and sitting for hours at the kitchen door watching the squirrels and birds. She loved horses, hummingbirds, fishing, watching the Astros, and watching the Kardashians in which Khloe was her favorite. Mrs. Yates was a great mother and loved spending time with her family.

Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Howes and husband Bill; sons, David Yates and wife Michelle, Randy Yates and wife Rhonda, Harley Yates and wife Mary; brother, Edd Carter and wife Donna; grandchildren, Artie, Brian, Clint, Cody, Jimmy, Kristi, Misty, Randy Michael, Shane, Stacey, and Tracy; great-grandchildren, Alexander, Brianna, Carson, Ethan, Hayden, Jack, Jeremiah, Johannah, Kason, Landon, Patrick, Payton, Ryan, and Savannah; nephews, Kevin Carter, Bill Wheeler, and Scott Wheeler; nieces, Missy Webb and Jenney Roberts; family friends and caregivers, Gayle Monahan and Kellee Wilcox; along with numerous other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at Pace Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas. Services will begin at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 26, 2019 at Pace Stancil Chapel with Pastor Craig Rice officiating. Interment will follow at Farley Chapel Cemetery, Shepherd, Texas. Serving as active pallbearers will be Brent Donnovan, Brian Curry, Clint Yates, Cody Yates, Jimmy Yates, Kevin Carter, Ryan Holton and Shane Yates. Honorary pallbearers will include Ethan Yates, Gayle Monahan, Hayden Holton, Kellee Wilcox, Landon George, Payton Curry, Randy Michael, and Tracy Terry.
