Joseph Curtis Silcox was born on November 1, 1948, in Wetumpka, Alabama, to parents Arnold Silcox and Pearlie Crumpton Silcox. He passed away at his home in Cleveland, Texas on March 26, 2024 at the age of 75.
Joe had a deep passion for spending time with his family and loved grilling steaks for them. He found joy in the simplicity of life's pleasures and had a special talent for bringing people together through his delicious meals. His love for the outdoors was evident in his hobbies; he adored fishing and playing his guitar.
Having served in the Army, Joe had a strong sense of duty and honor. His commitment to his country was unwavering, reflecting his dedication to everything he set his mind to. One of his proudest accomplishments was being married for over 54 years to his beloved wife Judy Silcox. Their love stood the test of time and served as an inspiration to all who knew them.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Pearlie Silcox; sister; Brenda Creamer; and brother Myron Silcox. He leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will be carried on by his surviving family: wife Judy Silcox; children Curtis Silcox and Tracie Weatherford; honorary children Heather Outlaw and Lacie McWilliams; grandchildren Taylor DuBose, Hunter Silcox, Joseph Weatherford, Sydney Silcox, Sky Silcox, and Jenna Weatherford; great-grandchildren Jaxon & Emmitt, Everleigh & Kingston; brother Alton Silcox; along with numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Though Joe may no longer walk beside us physically, his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. There will be a visitation held on Thursday, March 28, 2024 from 6pm-8pm at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Cleveland. His funeral will be held on Friday, March 29th at 11:00am in the Pace-Stancil Chapel with Derrick Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Pace-Stancil Memorial Rest Gardens. Joseph Weatherford, Jason Weatherford, Shawn Creamer, Tom McCulloch, Curtis Silcox and Phil Creamer will serve as pallbearers. Military honors provided by the United States Army.
