J.W. “Dubby” Graves, 87 of Dayton passed away Wednesday, November 29, 2017 in Houston, Texas.
Services for Mr. Graves will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Ken Davis officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Magnolia Park Cemetery under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton. Serving as pallbearers are Brant Elliott, Jared Graves, Kirk Graves, Brett Reeves, Jim Bob Trant, and Bradley Wills. Honorary pallbearers are Chuck Snyder, Donald Gale Moreau and Tim Williamson.
Joseph “Dubby” William Graves was born April 15, 1930 to parents, William Frederick Graves and Eva Rena Nottingham Graves. He was a lifelong resident of Dayton where he farmed from 1949 until 1989. He served on the Dayton Police Department for 10 years and 8 years for the Liberty County Jail. He was an active member of the Calvary Baptist Church. Dubby loved being around his family and friends and will be missed by all that knew him.
Dubby was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 67 years Helen Ruth Wills Graves and his daughter Marilyn Graves. He is survived by his sons, Ray Graves and wife Vicki of Teague, Kim Graves and wife Lynda of Dayton, and Barry Graves and wife Pam of Dayton; daughters, Janet Graves and Tim Bianchi of Crosby and Alane O’Neal and husband Rusty of Dayton; grandchildren, Brant Elliott, Leo Moreau and wife Sarah, Angie Fogle and husband Lee, Danielle Pagel and husband Justin, Jared Graves and fiancé Misty Flowers, Lauren Trant and husband Jim Bob, Courtney Pingrey, Kirk Graves and wife Rachel, Brett Reeves and wife Mandy, Glen Reeves and wife Tammy, Macy O’Neal and Meg O’Neal; great-grandchildren, Brayden, MacKenzie, Baron, Maddie, Reece, Blakely, Jaycee, Noah, Kord, Trace, Emma, and Alan; also numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
