Johnnie Juanita Covey

Johnnie Juanita Duren Covey, Age 83 of Cleveland, Texas, was welcomed by angels to her new home on Wednesday, December 27, 2012. She was born April 9, 1929 in Sabine Parish, Louisiana to parents John Gayden Duren and Lavonia Nellie Holloway. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers; Arnold Duren, Clyde Duren and Buford Duren. Johnnie delighted in family gatherings preparing and cooking for large groups. She loved to minister to others during prolonged periods. Having homemade cookies for the visits from grandchildren was a must. Quilting and needle point were her favorite pastime. Reading and entertaining the grandkids as well as winning at dominos were a delight. She is survived by her husband of 62 plus years; Clyde Barnard Covey. She will be remembered lovingly by her daughter; Robin Denise Covey Leal and husband Rolando, Sons; Clyde Michael Covey and wife Lynn, Hal Mark Covey and wife Kathy, 31 Grandchildren, 20 Great-Grandchildren, Sister; Yvonne Elizabeth Lawson, Nephews; Gregory Lawson, Geoffrey Lawson, Nieces; Denah Lynn Duren, Deborah Sue Burroughs, Regina Ruth Duren. Numerous cousins and other treasured family members and friends. Visitation will be held Sunday, December 30, 2012 5:00pm to 9:00pm at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas. Bro. Tim Holder and Rev. Gary Ladd will preside over funeral services being held Monday, December 31, 2012 10:00am at First Baptist Church Cleveland, Texas, with interment to follow at Rosewood Cemetery, Humble, Texas.
