John Wallace “Wally” Burt, Sr., age 93 of Huffman, Texas, passed away Sunday, December 4, 2016. He was born June 27, 1923 in Cincinnati, Ohio to parents M.C. and Odell Burt who preceded him in death along with his wife of 72 years, Betty Vee Burt; sister, Shirley Morris; and brother, Charles Burt.
Survivors include sons, John Burt and wife Donna, Steve Burt and wife Loretta, Ray Burt and wife Camille; grandchildren, Ricky Burt and wife Dana, Stuart Burt and wife Maritza, Jack Burt and wife Kim, Christopher Burt, Jarrod Burt and wife Keanne; great-grandchildren, Amanda Martin, Ashley Alexander, Kelsea Kirschner, Skylar, Scout, Saxen, Emily, Haley and Hogan Burt; 5 great-great-grandchildren, Preston and Jackson Alexander, Axton Martin, Paisley and Tinley Kirschner; niece, Sherry Kay Mulbarger.
Wally retired from Goose Creek ISD as a School Teacher. He also retired as a Municipal Judge and a retired Church of Christ Preacher. Wally also served his country in the U.S. Navy and was a WWII Veteran.
Visitation will be held 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at Pace Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas. Services will be held starting at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at Pace Stancil Chapel, Cleveland, Texas. For those who desire donations may be made to the Masonic Lodge 1428 or Alzheimer’s Association.
The family of Judge Burt would like to say thank you to Compassionate Care and a special thanks to Mary Murray for taking such special care of our dad during the past two months. There are angels on earth and they are in the form of ladies such as Mary.
