John Edward Wells

John Edward Wells, age 74 of Rye, Texas passed away Saturday, October 3, 2020. He was born September 29, 1946 in Houston, Texas to parents Roscoe S. and Vearda Smith Wells who preceded him in death along with his sister, Shirley Wells.

John was a 25-year resident of Rye, Texas and a member of the Simmons Bottom Assembly of God Church. He loved his family, and enjoyed metal art, welding, hunting, fishing and playing the drums. John will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years, Janice Marie Wells; sons, John Edward Wells, Jr. and wife Tabitha of Lufkin, TX and Gerald Wayne Wells of Rye, TX; brother, Roscoe S. Wells, Jr.; grandchildren, Gerald, Jr., Alissa, Carolyn, Trey, Kayla, Faith and Heather; great-grandchildren, Brayden, Ethan, Zaylie, Kaylee, Aubrey, Keaton, Lovely, Everli, and Blair; along with numerous other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at Pace Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas. Services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at Pace Stancil Chapel, Cleveland, Texas. Interment will follow at Wells Family Cemetery, Rye, Texas.
