John Bass

John Bass, 64, of Dayton, died Sunday, November 25, 2012, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, November 29, 2012, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel and conclude thereafter. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton. John was born November 12, 1948 in St. Cloud, FL, to parents; John E. Bass, Sr. and Doris Horne, a former resident of Pasadena, and has resided in the Dayton area for the past 23 years. He was a graduate of the St. Cloud High School class of 1967, a valve repair salesman for DMC Carter Chamber of LaPorte, and member of the New Life Church. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, woodworking, and doing tractor work. Mr. Bass was preceded in death by his father: John E. Bass, Sr., mother: Doris Horne Hoffman, brothers: Ivy E. “Toadie” Bass and Lloyd “Doug” Bass, and sisters: Doris “Sue” Bennett and Francis A. “Frankie” Davidson. He is survived by his wife of 44 years: JoAnne McWilliams Bass of Dayton, daughters: Sherry Payne and husband Ben of Dayton and Cindy Bargas and husband Pete, Jr. of Dayton, sister: Margaret Feller of FL, grandchildren: Paeten and Makenna Bargas and Matthew and Steven Payne, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
