John Albert Ordener

September 28, 1945 — October 31, 2016

John Albert Ordener, better known as “Johnny”, passed away on October 31, 2016 after a short battle with leukemia. Born September 28, 1945, to “Slick” John Ordener and June Ragsdale Ordener. Preceded in death by both parents, he is survived by his sisters, Catherine Ordener and husband Randy Waibel of Friendswood, Texas and Caroline Ordener of Cleveland, Texas

He graduated from Cleveland High School in 1963. After high school and electronics school, he worked as a photographer and off-set printer to the Cleveland Advocate. He got his ham radio operator’s license with call letters WA5LYN. To avoid the draft, he enlisted in the Army. The Army trained him further in electronics and then had him teach the course for three years. In his final year, he was sent to Turkey to do what he had been teaching. When he returned, he went to work for Texas Instruments where he worked in research and development. He retired after 20 years to pursue his interests.

He loved animals, playing chess and riding his motorcycle. He was a free thinker and a far-from-ordinary brother.
