Joe Thurman Jackson, Jr., 78, of Dayton passed away Monday, November 27, 2017 in Houston, Texas.

Services for Mr. Jackson will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 1, 2017 at the First Baptist Church, Dayton. Visitation will be at 1:00 p.m. prior to service at First Baptist. Interment will follow at Magnolia Park Cemetery under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton.

Joe was born September 11, 1939 in Houston, Texas to parents Joe Thurman Jackson, Sr. and Marcella Applegate Jackson. He served in the United States Coast Guard and worked for HL&P for over 33 years. Joe had lived in Dayton since 1976 after moving from Houston and was a member of the First Baptist Church. Joe was a very devoted volunteer at M.D. Anderson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Janice M. Hughes Jackson. He is survived by son, Jeffrey P. “Jeff” Jackson; daughters, Melinda K. “Mindy” Jackson and Tracy M. Jackson; daughter-in-law, Dawn Jackson; brother, Edward “Butch” Jackson and wife Pat; grandchildren, Raegan M. Jackson and Christina Mae Smith; special brother-in-law, Gary Hughes; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
