Joe Hillon Guynes

Joe Hillon Guynes, age 81 of Cleveland, Texas, passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2019. He was born December 29, 1937 in Kennard, Texas to parents Vertie Hathorn and Claude Guynes who preceded him in death along with his brothers, Earl C. Guynes and Hirshell Guynes.

Joe retired from the U.S Postal Service after 38 years. He loved hunting and fishing and spending time with his kids and grandkids. Back in the day, he loved picking guitar and singing Merle Haggard. He was a quiet, loving spirit.

Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Sue Guynes; daughters, Theresa Guynes and Karen McGinnis and husband, Tim; in-laws, Darlene Wakefield, John Cheatham, Bill Cheatham and wife Ginger, Jack Smith and wife Virginia, Wayne Cheatham and wife Barbara, LaNita Jackson and husband Marty, and Shannon Cheatham; grandchildren, Coty McGinnis, Ashley McGinnis, Jason Tanner and wife Lisa, Jared Bobo and wife Courtney, and Walker Hart; great-grandchildren, Alex and Audrey Tanner, Declan and Scarlett Bobo, and Willow Hart; numerous nieces and nephews; many fishing buddies and friends.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, July 11, 2019 at Pace Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas. Services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, July 12, 2019 at Pace Stancil Chapel, Cleveland, Texas officiated by Rev. Douglas Hollie. Interment will follow at Pace Stancil Memorial Rest Gardens.
