Funeral services for Bro. Joe Carriere, 71, of Hudson will be held Sunday, December 8, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the Southside Baptist Church with Pastor Jeff Robinson officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday evening at Carroway Funeral Home. Visitation will also be held Sunday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Pace Stancil Funeral Home, 1304 N. Cleveland, Dayton, Texas. Committal services will follow at 7:00 p.m. officiated by Joe Constantine and Howard Harper. Private burial will be in the Palms Memorial Park Cemetery in Dayton. Bro. Carriere was born January 1, 1942 in Liberty, Texas, and died Thursday, December 5, 2013 in a local hospital. Bro. Carriere earned a Masters of Religious Education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He was a rice farmer for many years in the Dayton and LaBelle area, and was the former pastor of Smith Point Baptist Church. He retired from Pollok Baptist Church, where he was pastor from 1989-2005. Bro. Carriere was currently a member of Southside Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Linda Carriere of Hudson; daughter and son-in-law, Danielle and Daniel Johnson and granddaughters, Claire and Emery Johnson, all of Nacogdoches; son and daughter-in-law, Josh and Shanna Carriere, grandson, Brandon Carriere and granddaughter, Kaylin Carriere, all of Hudson; mother, Judy (Conner) Carriere of Fannett; sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Tommy White of Fannett; mother-in-law, Alice Quick of Hudson; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Marilyn and Joe Richardson of Nacogdoches; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ken and Barbara Oma of Franklin, Tennessee; nieces, Carin Miller, Ginger Roy, Julie Aasmyr, Laura Oma and Alissa Oma; nephews, J.T. Richardson and Zach Oma; and numerous other relatives. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Crawford Carriere; and father-in-law, Clarence Quick. Pallbearers will be Tommy White, Joe Richardson, Ken Oma, Phil Perkins, Tommy Joe Reynolds, Billy Ray Harris, Ben Webber and Buster Grigg. Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of Pollok Baptist Church, Southside Adult Men’s Sunday School Class, Bud Townsend, Jon Ed Ingham, and James Hajovsky.
