Joe Arthur Cronin Sr., age 77, of Shepherd, Texas, passed away Sunday, April 8, 2012 at Kingwood Medical Center. Visitation will be held for Mr. Cronin Tuesday, April 10, 2012, 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel, Cleveland, Texas. Bro. Don Prather and Bro. Bill Nelson will preside over funeral services being held Wednesday, April 11, 2012, 10:00 a.m. at Pace-Stancil Chapel with interment following at Farley Chapel Cemetery, Shepherd, Texas. Mr. Cronin was born April 13, 1934 in Shepherd, Texas to parents Cedric Issac Cronin and Rhoda Ann (Carlisle) Cronin. He attended Shepherd High School in his early years, graduated from Sam Houston State University with a degree in Agriculture Education/Administration. He was a faithful member to the Church of Christ. He served Tarkington Prairie well as Teacher/Coach and Principal at Tarkington ISD for 25 years, and spent 11 years as San Jacinto County Auditor. He found great joy in hunting, fishing, his work, and especially spending time with his family. He contributed to making this world a better place by reaching out; he will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He is preceded in death by both parents Cedric and Annie Cronin; and his sister Judy Birdsong Cronin. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Christine Cronin; sons Jody Cronin and wife Brenda, Steve Cronin and wife Carrie; sister Betty Sewell; brother and sister-in-law Johnny and Dixie; sister-in-law Ila Adams; grandchildren Leslie Cronin, Clayton Cronin, Brandon Cronin, and Joshua Cronin; nephews Jim Sewell, Jay Lackey, Derek Adams, Ike Embesi; niece Kathy Keeland; numerous other cherished family members and faithful friends.
