Jo Ann Payne, 82, of Cleveland passed away Monday, September 15, 2014. She was born November 29, 1931 in Vimy Ridge, Arkansas to parents J.D. Hudson and Alma French who preceded her in death along with her husband, William M. Payne, Sr.; son, Bruce Payne; and sister, Margaret Poe. Jo Ann married Bill Payne on June 12, 1953 in Clay Center, Kansas. Jo Ann began working as a police dispatcher in 1969 in Littlefield, Texas. She moved to Cleveland in February 1974 and began dispatching for CPD in 1975. She retired in 1997 after twenty two years of service. Jo Ann enjoyed being outdoors and working in the yard. She liked to crochet and collect recipe books. A memorial service will be held 5:30p.m., Thursday, September 18, 2014 at Liberty Church with Reverend White officiating. Jo Ann is survived by her daughter, Julia Payne-Lawless; sons, Marc Payne, Greg Payne and Jim Payne; sister, Agnes Vitt; grandchildren, Chris Boswell, Terra Hopper, Whitney Payne, Jana Payne, Jena Guerra, William Payne, Travis Payne, Trina Dixon, Curtis Dixon, Jakub Hay, Tiffany Hay, and many “adopted†grandchildren; great grandchildren DruMichael, C.J., Kayden, Ethyn, Logan, Jared, Bradley, and Dalton; also other relatives and numerous friends.
