Jimmy Doyle Simmons, Sr., 68, of Cleveland, passed away Sunday, June 12, 2016, at his residence, surrounded by his family.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday, June 14, 2016, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 15, 2016, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Morgan cemetery in Cleveland.

Jimmy was born October 26, 1947 in Cleveland, to parents; Quintin and Arlene Gilmore Simmons, and was a lifelong resident of Cleveland. He was the owner and operator of J.D.S. Transport, a devoted husband, and loving father. He also enjoyed his work, spending time with family, and his talks with his friend Frank Chapman.

Mr. Simmons was preceded in death by his parents, brother: Robert McCauley, sister: Linda Barlow, and grandsons: Shaun Simmons and Steven Simmons. He is survived by his wife of 26 years: Ruth Phillips Simmons, sons: Jimmy Doyle Simmons, Jr., Greg Simmons and wife Cindy, and Richard Scogin, daughters: Glenda Sherman, Angela Leonard and husband Thomas, and Amber Elam and husband T.J., sisters: Patricia Holmquist and husband Pat Little, and Barbara Dellinger and husband Jerry Dellinger, grandchildren: Autumn Leonard, Courtney Leonard, Bradley Elam, Blake Elam, Hailey Elam, Jimmy Lackey, Christopher Simmons, Brian Sherman, Jason Simmons, and Robert D. Sherman, great-grandchildren: Justin, Colton, Otto, and Ava, great great-grandchild: Julie, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
