Jettie Ruth Bush Metts (1927-2021)
Jettie Ruth Metts affectionately known to all as Grannie received her wings on May 27, 2021. Born October 16, 1927 in Walker County. She married the love of her life James Edgar (“PeeWee”) Metts Jr. on July 7, 1946 in Fostoria. They had one daughter Jane Evelyn Metts Landers.
Jettie Ruth loved sewing and quilting, her family, cooking (she was always ready to fix you something to eat), and reading. She will always be remembered as an amazing mother, grannie, sister and aunt; she was always up for an adventure or an activity with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her parents, in-laws, husband James Edgar Metts, brother John Robert Bush; sisters - Addie Pearl Bush Skelton (Jack), Edna Juanice Bush Stifflemire (Ernest); niece Sarah Lynn Metts Howell, sister-in-law Patricia Burke Metts; and many cousins and friends.
She is survived by daughter Jane Evelyn Metts Landers; brother in-law Harold Metts (Martha); grandson(s)– Michael Wayne Landers II (Stephany), Jeremy Matthew Landers (Jennifer); granddaughter Meredith Landers Drake; great grandchildren – Dawson Lee Drake, Amanda Drake Burgess (Dillan); Matthew Troy Landers; Dylan Gentry Landers, Skylar Lynn Landers, Ashlyn Drew Long, Sara Wright, Logan Wright; nephews - John Mark Metts (Gina), Wayne Stifflemire (Pam), Joe Stifflemire (Debbie), Randy Stifflemire (Hope), Gary Howell; nieces - Diane Stifflemire Dill (Lonnie) and Shelley Barber; cousins – Julia Gaynell Metts, James O. Metts (Dianne), Ricky Metts, Connie Metts Coats (Randy); as well as a multitude of nieces, nephews and friends.
A visitation will be held on Friday, June 11, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home. A celebration of her life will be held on June 12, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home (303 E. Crockett Street, Cleveland, Texas 77327) with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
