Jesse Houston Barton

Jesse Houston Barton, 79, of Dayton passed away peacefully surrounded by his family Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at home in Dayton. Jesse was born August 6, 1939 in Winnsboro, Louisiana to parents Willie Isaac Barton and Elsie Shipley Barton.

Services for Mr. Barton will be 3:00 p.m., Friday, September 28, 2018 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Magnolia Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., Friday before the service.

Jesse was a longtime resident of Dayton. He proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1956 until 1962 and was a member of the American Legion. He was owner and operator with his wife Evelyn of the Texas Kountry Kitchen and the B & S Club. He had previously worked for the city of Liberty and had been a part of building bridges throughout this area. Jesse took pride in his community, supporting many organizations and activities. He was most definitely a people person and enjoyed visiting with everyone.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Lovie, Margaret, and Georgia and daughter, Connie Ray Richard. Jesse is survived by his wife Evelyn Pratka Barton of Dayton; sons, Jeffrey Barton and Jayme Barton; step-children, Andrea Walker, Kristy Decker, and J.J. Calhoun; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, other relatives and a host of friends.
