Jerry George Smikal, 77, of Eastgate, passed away Sunday, December 18, 2016, at his residence.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 21, 2016, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at St. Anne’s Catholic Cemetery in Eastgate. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.
Jerry was born July 2, 1939 in Dayton, to parents; Antone and Bessie Vyoral Smikal, and has been a lifelong resident of Eastgate. He was a cherry picker operator for Brown and Root and had also been employed by the Liberty County Water District as a dragline operator before retiring. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, his cattle, tractor work, and his dogs.
Mr. Smikal was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 39 years: Erlene B. McCarter Smikal, and all of his siblings: Steve, Bill, Emil, Albert, Marion, and Jessie Smikal, Frances Young, Agnes Kowis, Mary Symoheyl, Mildred Brannan, and Toni Janik. He is survived by his daughter: Amy Wallette and husband Everett of Kenefick, son: Terry Graham and wife Debbie of Eastgate, grandchildren: Candice Piffer and Brandi Pope, great-granddaughter: Zoey Grace, nephew: David Smikal and wife Mandy, numerous other relatives, and friends.
